Global and Diffuse Solar Radiation in the United Arab Emirates
Hassan A. N. Hejase and Ali H. Assi
Abstract—This paper presents empirical regression models
for predicting the daily and monthly average global solar
radiation in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) based on 9-year
measured data. It also computes the diffuse solar radiation
based on well- established models. The UAE enjoys plenty of
sunny days with an annual average of 9.6 daily sunshine hours.
This attests to the abundance of solar and its potential to
produce clean energy sources.
Index Terms—Empirical regression, clearness index, diffuse solar radiation, global solar radiation, prediction models.
