Abstract

Last few decades have seen a boom in theindustrial sector in India. This industrialization helped people ingetting employment but we cannot underscore the pollutionthese industries are generating on our so called “healthy”environment. This pollution has impacted our prime naturalresources like Air, Water and Land and thus has resulted in theobvious deterioration of our flora, fauna and human health. Inthe following paper, I have taken an industrial estate complexcomprising of three industrial estates; Naroda, Odhav andVatva, situated in one of the most polluted cities of Gujarat,Ahmedabad.<br>The study provides an understanding of the chronology ofevents that took place since 1960 till 2014 within and around thethree estates, assessing and evaluating the quality of waterresources impacted by these industrial estates and identifyingthe environmental and socio-economic impacts of theseindustrial estates on water resources. The paper ends byproviding some alternative/ supplementary solution in order toenhance the quality of wastewater.
