Abstract—India has 15% of the world population but
only with 2% of the land area and 4% of world water
supply. In Jharkhand only about 21% of total ground
water and surface water is being utilized for irrigation,
industry and other municipal uses. Therefore, the
integrated water management is vital for sustainable
economic development. Availability of water is under
stress to meet the requirements in various sectors. The
quality of water also plays an important role for
irrigation purpose. Various norms have been prescribed
for suitability of ground water for irrigation purpose.
